2016 have just passed. Do you feel that you have achieved all the things you wanted last year, or was it a hit and miss.
Well for me it felt like ground hog day, 2014, 2015 and 2016 I felt I have missed the mark again.
I felt that I should’ve and could’ve achieved more. But I didn’t and every year at the start I always tell myself I am going make this year the best year ever. But as the year ends, sadly the results speak for themselves.
So at the beginning of this year I did a complete and honest evaluation of myself.
I realise can’t keep doing the same shit and expect a different result.
I looked at my health, mindset, work, motivations and many other things but nothing really stood out.
Sure I knew that I needed to make minor changes here and there but I couldn’t pin point what will drastically change my situation.
I had many restless nights.
I dug a bit further and looked back to my work days and try to understand why was I so much more successful in my corporate life.
What did I do differently?
The only thing I saw different, it was my routine.
I woke up, went to work, go home, sleep and repeat.
I hated it. It was like ground hog day every day for the last 10 years of my life. It sucked.
I felt like I was dying a slow death.
So when I left the corporate world I vowed to myself that it was going to be more flexible and be less restrictive.
It worked for a while but as I look back the past 3 years I realise a common pattern, that I became less and less productive, I was continuously taking longer and longer to complete certain tasks and was procrastinating more.
Which I think led to me becoming more stress and depress with my situation.
Then I realise, it wasn’t the routine that I hated. It was the work. The routine was the thing which made me successful despite the work.
It was a OMG moment.
So at the start of this year I created a routine for myself that was more structured like having set working hours, when to eat, when to have fun and when to rest.
Though not until the end of 2017 will I know how much impact this one change will have on my business, life and health.
But I am feeling really good at the moment, I am more productive and less stress than I was last month.
Look at the time, lol my routine, time to finish up and do my workout and go have some fun.
